Our Head Office Team
Korey Gibson, Founder
Korey first became a qualified group fitness instructor in Australia in 2002. Korey loved seeing the results that group workouts were delivering his clients from fat loss to increased endurance to better bone health. He saw an opportunity to combine cardio classes with resistance workouts to give his clients a full body workout that would increase strength and endurance all in a 45 minute workout.
Korey worked hard from a young age to turn his love of sport into a career. He 'earned his stripes' proving himself as a salesman in the fitness field and working closely with clients as a personal trainer to help them get results they desired.
In 2004, Korey launched Boot Camps Australia Pty Ltd in Brisbane, a new group fitness brand in Australia. After moving home to New Zealand in 2008, Korey then joined forces with Leon McNiece and opened Quest Health Club, in Ferrymead, Christchurch, a successful club that was loved by passionate staff and members. Sadly, the 2011 earthquake devastated the club's premise and the club never re-opened. Not one to sit on his hands, in 2010 Korey and Leon brought Snap Fitness to New Zealand opening 51 clubs throughout New Zealand before selling the business in April 2018. Now, Korey dedicates his time to his fitness brands, Cadence, My First Gym, Fit Futures Learning Institute and Boot Camps Training Systems.
Korey's sporting background:
A true athlete, Korey has a lifelong history of sporting achievements including:
- Former Junior Warrior & Rugby League Player in the UK & Queensland Cup Australia
- King of the Mountain MMA Lightweight Champion Australia
- Warriors Realm MMA Lightweight Champion Australia
- ISKA MMA Lightweight Champion New Zealand
Daisy Seely, Marketing and Communications Manager
Originally from London, Daisy has made Christchurch her home for the past seven years. Upon arrival in New Zealand she launched into a career in journalism, working at Fairfax Media (now Stuff New Zealand) in a variety of roles, before taking up the role as Digital Editor and then Marketing Manager at Star Media. More recently she has experience as an Account Manager at Convergence Communication and Marketing – a role that combined and refined her skills as a writer, communicator and marketer, and developed her abilities in building stakeholder relationships and managing digital assets.
Daisy considers The Health Hub a great fit for her skillset and interests. She was fortunate enough to grow up in a family that prioritised exercise and looks forward to introducing the same health-first philosophy to Kiwi families through the offering of MyFirstGym and Cadence Cycling Studio. Daisy has participated in most sports, but always favoured football (soccer), playing competitively for Kent county and Millwall Football Club in the UK and coaching in Kent schools, and is now part of Western AFC in Christchurch. She’s completed four half marathons and a marathon in New Zealand, and is currently studying for her Certificate in Personal Training with Fit Futures Learning Institute.
Melissa English, Accounts Manager
Melissa has been a key part of the Head Office team for more than six years, working alongside Korey since he opened Snap Fitness New Zealand in 2011. She now oversees and maintains more than 40 accounts under The Health Hub umbrella, including Cadence Cycling Studio.
Growing up in Christchurch, Mel participated in various sports, including netball, touch and volleyball, which means she brings a genuine interest in the health and fitness industry to the accounts role. Mel completed a Certificate in Business and Administration at Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland. It was while studying, she found her true passion resided in accounting.
As the youngest of seven siblings, Mel knows the true meaning of teamwork and competition. She is always striving for bigger and better opportunities and enjoys being part of a workplace that operates with the same values.
Mel sets ambitious goals in both her work and personal life to ensure she continues to learn, develop and succeed.
She’s known as ‘the rock’ in the workplace for her ability to consistently get things done to a high standard with unwavering diligence and a cool head.
